Clubhouse is an audio-based social media app that “allows people everywhere to talk, tell stories, develop ideas, deepen friendships, and meet interesting new people around the world,” according to the development company.
With clubhouse, you can jump in and out of different chats, on different subjects, you can choose to simply listen or throw in your thoughts. In a word, this app turns a regular digital conversation into a live, free-flowing podcast, where everyone can be the host.
What happens in the Clubhouse stays in the Clubhouse, which means that there’s no recording of conversations and they’re not saved.
Right now, you still cannot join Clubhouse without an invite. Anyone can get one by joining the waitlist or by asking an existing user for one. The app plans to build community slowly and prepare features that will help it handle larger numbers of people.
Each new member is allocated one invite, and after a while you get three more. So if you get invited by an existing member, you can eventually pick up to 4 of your friends to join with you.
