Google has opened to all English speaking users the “About this image” feature, which enables users to verify the authenticity of an image by viewing its history, metadata and the context users used it with on different sites. Available in the three-dot menu on Google Image results, this feature also indicates if the image is AI-generated. In addition, journalists and fact-checkers are allowed to upload or copy URLs of images to learn more about them within the newly-launched fact check tool.
