Recently, South Africa suffered a serious power supply crisis, with at least 11 generating units at coal-fired power plants failing last week, forcing the South African National Electricity Corporation to start six-level power restrictions again. After several weeks of Stage VI blackouts, South Africa's Finance Minister Gordon Guana revealed that the government is planning to improve the power supply with the goal of ending the power crisis within the next 12 to 18 months. The so-called Stage 6 power restrictions will be lifted in about five months through the renovation of power generation facilities and the entry into force of related management measures.
